A global organization, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy helps solve economic, social, and environmental challenges through creative approaches to the use, taxation, and stewardship of land.
A Successful Collaboration
For over 10 years, iFactory has maintained a strong relationship with the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. We have designed, developed, and supported a number of their websites and web applications. Most recently, we launched the new Lincoln Institute of Land Policy website.
Working with the Lincoln web team, iFactory led the development of a comprehensive web strategy that informed the tactics used to create the final product. Our other services for this project included strategy, UX and information architecture, visual and responsive design, Drupal development, and ongoing support. From start to finish, we completed this project in under 18 months.
“Thanks to your entire team for a top-quality job!”

Innovative Digital Communications Platform
At the beginning of the project, our team focused on creating a platform that tells Lincoln’s story. To achieve this goal, we sought ways to leverage their data, feature their research, and emphasize their positive impact on people's daily lives.
Telling the Client’s Story
iFactory developed a comprehensive content strategy to support the storytelling requirements of the site, starting with the creation of user personas. Each content section addresses the needs of the personas while supporting Lincoln’s core mission, which includes the following:
- Coverage of land policy matters
- Research outcomes
- Practical, “view of the street” information
- Access to experts and data
- Global trust
Broad Global Impact
To prove that the institute has a broad, global impact on land policy, we implemented a number of features, including:
- Content sharing via social media
- Testimonials from policy experts, government leaders, and reporters
- Editorial columns to answer the question “Why land policy?”
- Press stories in context
Robust Search and Browse
Lincoln publishes reference and academic work in these formats:
- Industry papers
- Policy statements
Since the institute has produced a considerable number of publications, the new site required search and browse features that would surface relevant information to the user and allow the user to “discover” the information they seek through a streamlined interface.
The result is a publishing sub-section powered by SOLR and supported by a taxonomy developed by iFactory.
Powered By Drupal
Built in Drupal by iFactory, Lincoln’s new website is modern, scalable, and secure. The site integrates with a number of third-party software systems, including Salesforce and Moodle.
Our Acquia certified developers continue to support the institute as we enhance the site, migrate new functionality to the platform, and ensure exceptional user experience.
